People Deserve Rights
People Deserve Rights
Recently, a lot of people have been trying to take away the rights of others. As this blog is based in the U.S., I will primarily be focused on the issues within the country.
First of all, the current elected president Donald Trump signed an executive order denying the validity of people under the trans umbrella. This was a completely idiotic move to make, as it ignores the difference between biology, which is itself a much more complex topic than many claim, and gender identity. Gender identity is a social construct that has been shown many times to be a function of the brain, which develops differently than the genitals.
Another big violation of rights in recent times is deportation without due process. While it is objectively illegal based on the U.S. Constitution to deport someone without due process, these actions bring up the larger question of why some people are considered "illegal" based on their entry of a country at all. Countries today put up borders that take some different forms, but all aim to separate the "legal citizens" of a country from those who have entered the country without being recognized as a citizen. Basic logic would suggest that, as long as someone aims to contribute to a society without actively harming it, they should be allowed into the society. This would suggest that borders are entirely unnecessary, since the only things borders aim to keep out are people and illegal substances, where many illegal substances either get through anyways, or can be made in the country trying to keep it out. One may ask, though, why countries still leave up their borders. I believe this to be caused by the lust for power among the world leaders, resulting in widespread censorship and xenophobia. This can be seen in a now-deleted post by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) as shown in the picture below.
